Appeon Announces General Availability of Appeon Mobile

Hong Kong - May 3, 2013 – Appeon® Corporation today announced the general availability of Appeon Mobile, the first cross-OS native-technology MEAP (mobile enterprise application platform) for SAP developers.  Appeon Mobile works with most SAP technology infrastructure products, including SAP PowerBuilder, NetWeaver, Afaria, SQL Anywhere, Adaptive Server Enterprise, IQ and HANA.  Unlike typical MEAP, Appeon Mobile is powered by native technology that delivers the best performance, memory management, application features, and user interface.  Appeon Mobile is also the first MEAP to deliver new multi-tasking user interface paradigm that empowers users to work with multiple screens of a single application in an intuitive and familiar manner.

“SAP PowerBuilder is the easiest and most productive IDE I have ever laid eyes on,” said Armeen Mazda, CEO, Appeon Corporation.  “We chose to leverage PowerBuilder for the design-time of Appeon Mobile so we could truly make building mobile apps a piece of cake.  This allowed us to focus our engineering efforts on the performance and features.  Our early adopters confirm that Appeon Mobile is superior in performance and features to popular mobile frameworks, such as Titanium, Phone Gap, and Sencha.”  Appeon Mobile enables SAP developers to rapidly build mobile applications with the PowerBuilder IDE.
 Existing programming skills as well as existing code and DataWindows can be leveraged.  Now mobile applications can be built in just weeks instead of months using one development tool for all popular mobile platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

Appeon Mobile Features

From the PowerBuilder IDE, Appeon Mobile generates native mobile applications that deploy universally to all supported mobile platforms. DataWindows, nested reports, and many rich PowerBuilder functionalities previously unimaginable on mobile devices can be at the users’ fingertips. These rich mobile applications are database-driven, powered by either a Java or .NET middleware and is compatible with leading commercial databases, including SAP, Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft. • Codeless UI Resizing – Adapt applications, quickly and easily, to display properly on any mobile device without having to modify any code or perform any calculations.
  • Multitasking User Interface – Take advantage of the highly productive MDI multitasking user interface on mobile devices, which is uniquely offered in a familiar yet touch optimized manner.

  1. The big mistake is to fail to distinguish PC and mobile platforms, and simply port the existing desktop software to mobile platforms.

  2. Hi Rubel;

    Interestingly enough, complex MDI applications render amazingly well on the iOS tablets! However for the smartphones, I agree ... refactoring the GUI for the smaller real-estate is required on complex applications. Simple SDI based PB applications though might render very well on the iPhone devices.
